Lover Ka Fakeer is a love story that unfolds in the city of Mumbai from the perspectives of twin brothers, where they meet during their college days. The movie is inspired by a true story and follows two young boys, how they fall in love with each other amid the struggles. It captures the beauty and simplicity of love while highlighting its complexity and adversity. Lover Ka Fakeer was directed by Rasool Farooqui who has worked on movies like Jab We Met and 3 idiots. He also has co-directed movies like Welcome Mr Maruti: A Journey to India with Subhash Kapoor and Shivaay with Vikram Bhatt. The premiere of Lover Ka Fakeer occurred on 20 November 2011 in Mumbai. The movie was premiered at the Goa Film Festival, 7th edition. The film had its audio launch on 6 February 2012 at the Tata Theatre located in Bandra, Mumbai. It was seen that despite the trendy commercial elements it had, it impressed with its simplicity and authenticity while dealing with human emotions. According to Yahoo! Movies, "With all its distracting Bollywoodisms foisted upon it, Lover features some stunning performances. The actors playing the two brothers, Harsh and Nikhil, are natural to the core. They have an uncanny chemistry and a great bond. Their intense love story has a personal appeal". The Times of India was very critical about the film, "The film is too artificial to have any emotional connect. The lead actors have no spark. But what's worse is all the songs being dropped in to supposedly add flavour to Lover". The movie has been received well by the public and has been a success at the box-office. Lover Ka Fakeer usually collects more than Rs 150,000 after each show. In some multiplexes, it grossed Rs 25,000 on the opening day.
